Filorium adds folders, so you can sort your files the way you sort them on your computer and find any of them in seconds. **Your files never move.** Folders are only a way of organizing. Every file stays where WordPress put it, and every link to it keeps working. Turn Filorium off and your Media Library looks exactly as it did before. #### Try it before you install Try Filorium in a live WordPress site without installing anything or creating an account: [Demo link](https://filorium.com) #### Organize your media * Create folders, and folders inside folders. * Drag and drop files and folders to move them. * Cut, copy, paste, duplicate and rename, just like on your computer. * Pick a folder when you upload, or drag a whole folder from your computer to bring it in as it is. * Star your favorite files. * Switch between Grid, List and Column views. * See how many files each folder holds, with or without its subfolders. * Preview files and edit their title, caption, description and alt text in place. * Work together: changes made by your team show up as they happen. #### Folders where you already work Filorium also adds folders to WordPress’s own screens. * **Media Library** — browse folders right beside your files. * **Media picker** — pick images from folders in the block editor, classic editor, Featured Image, Customizer and widgets. * **Bulk actions** — select files in the Media Library list and move them to a folder in one go. * Show folders as a tree, as a small dropdown next to the other filters, or not at all. You can choose separately for the Media Library and the media picker, under **Filorium Settings Media Library**. #### Delete with confidence Filorium tells you when a file is still in use before you delete it. * See where a file is used: in posts and pages, page builders, WooCommerce product galleries, your site logo and header, widgets, user profile pictures and more. * Deleted files go to the Trash first, so you can put them back. * Before anything is deleted for good, Filorium searches the rest of your site once more and keeps any file that still seems to be in use. * WordPress’s automatic Trash cleanup skips files that are still in use, too. “No known uses” means Filorium found nothing pointing at the file. The FAQ lists exactly what it checks. #### Rename and replace files * **Replace** a file with a new version. It keeps its name and address, so every page that shows it gets the new version. * **Rename** a file. Its address changes, so Filorium first shows you every page that uses it. #### Switch from another folder plugin Already using another media folder plugin? Filorium can bring your folders across. * Open **Filorium Settings Import** to see what it found. * Check the preview, then import. * Your other plugin’s data is only read, never changed. #### Keep a copy of your folders Your folders are never locked in. Download them at any time from **Filorium Settings Export**: * as a **backup file** (JSON) that Filorium can import again — on this site or another one, or * as a **spreadsheet** (CSV). Importing a backup never overwrites anything: existing folders stay as they are, and files are only ever added to folders. #### Safe by default * Filorium only runs in your WordPress dashboard. It adds nothing to the pages your visitors see. * Who can do what follows your WordPress user roles. * Deactivating or deleting Filorium keeps your folders, unless you choose otherwise. #### Filorium Pro **The free plugin is complete on its own.** There are no time limits, no file limits, and nothing locked until you buy a license. Filorium Pro is a separate paid add-on from [filorium.com](https://filorium.com) that adds: * **Collections** — tag files with labels and find them from anywhere. * **One file in several folders.** * **Copy folders** — duplicate a whole folder with everything inside it. * **Folder colors** — make important folders stand out. * **Similar & duplicates** — find repeated and near-identical images. * **Missing metadata** — find files without alt text. * **No known uses** — list files nothing seems to use, to help you clear out. * **Used-in panel** — see exactly where a file is used. * **Filorium Library** — the full Filorium workspace inside the media picker and supported page builders. * **Studio** — crop, rotate, resize, compress and watermark images. * **Bulk metadata** — write alt text, captions and descriptions for many files at once. * **Rename files in a folder** — give a whole folder one numbered name, and update the pages that use them. * **Download as ZIP** — download a folder as one ZIP file. * **Unpack ZIP files** — unzip straight into folders. Everything described above this section is in the free plugin. #### Your data Filorium never moves your media files. They stay in WordPress’s uploads folder. What Filorium saves in your WordPress database: * Your folders and collections. * A short activity log, so everyone’s screen stays in sync. * A record of where each file is used. * Settings and each user’s preferences. Two small maintenance tasks run once a day to tidy the log and the usage record. Only **Rename**, **Replace** and **Empty Trash** ever change a file on disk, and each one asks you first. Filorium never touches anything outside the uploads folder. When you delete the plugin, your folders are kept — unless you turn on **Delete everything if the plugin is removed** under **Settings Data** first. #### External services The free plugin does not connect to any outside service. It has no analytics, no tracking, no license check, and loads no fonts, scripts, styles or images from elsewhere. Everything runs on your own site. The only outside links are the ones you choose to open from **Settings Filorium Pro**, which go to filorium.com. Filorium Pro is a separate add-on and uses the Qevix Labs license service to activate a license. In WordPress, go to **Plugins Add New**. 2. Search for **Filorium**, then install and activate it. 3. Open **Filorium** in the admin menu, create your first folders and start sorting. Folders also appear in the Media Library and the media picker straight away. To show them as a dropdown instead, or hide them, go to **Filorium Settings Media Library**. ## FAQ ### Can I try Filorium before installing it? Yes. Try the live demo at [demo.filorium.com](https://demo.filorium.com). Nothing to install and no account needed. The demo includes the Pro features. ### Does Filorium move my files or change their links? No. Folders are only a way of organizing. Your files stay in WordPress’s uploads folder and their links stay the same. Only **Rename**, **Replace** and **Empty Trash** change files, and each one asks you first. ### Does it work with the block editor and classic editor? Yes. Folders appear in the media picker everywhere WordPress opens it: the Image and Gallery blocks, Featured Image, the classic editor, the Customizer and widgets. ### Does it work with page builders? Yes. Any page builder that uses the normal WordPress media picker gets Filorium’s folders. Filorium Pro goes further and puts the full Filorium Library inside Elementor, Beaver Builder, SiteOrigin, Brizy, Visual Composer, Zion and Themify. ### How does Filorium know a file is in use? It keeps track of where your files appear, and updates that whenever content is saved. It looks in: * Posts, pages and other content, including drafts and scheduled posts. * Images, galleries, videos, audio and files added with the block or classic editor, including gallery and caption shortcodes. * Featured images. * Page builders that save image links, such as Elementor, Beaver Builder and SiteOrigin. * WooCommerce product galleries, FooGallery galleries, and ACF image, file and gallery fields. * User profile pictures chosen from the Media Library. * Your site logo, site icon, header and background images, and your theme’s image settings. * Widgets that are on your site. * Category images, including WooCommerce product category images. Before a file is deleted for good, it also searches the rest of your database — other plugins’ sliders, forms and settings — and keeps any file it finds there. It cannot see: * Page builders that store images without a link, such as Brizy. * Images named only in CSS files or theme files. * Copies on a CDN or offload service, and other websites that link to your files. So “No known uses” means nothing was found, not that nothing is there. That is also why deleted files go to the Trash first. ### Can WordPress’s automatic Trash cleanup delete a file that is still in use? No. WordPress empties items that have been in the Trash for 30 days. Filorium checks each file first and keeps any that is still in use, or might be. Those stay in the Trash until you restore or delete them yourself. ### Will Filorium slow down my website? No. Filorium only runs in your WordPress dashboard and adds nothing to the pages your visitors see. ### Can I move my folders over from another plugin? Yes. Go to **Filorium Settings Import**. Filorium shows which plugins it found and what it can bring across. Your other plugin’s data is only read, never changed. ### Can I get my folders out of Filorium? Yes, at any time and for free. Go to **Filorium Settings Export** and download a backup file (JSON) or a spreadsheet (CSV). The download lists your folders, their colors, your collections, and which files are in each folder. Your media files themselves are not in it — they stay in your uploads folder. Anything in the Trash is left out. ### Can I restore a backup, or copy my folders to another site? Yes. Go to **Filorium Settings Import**, choose your backup file under **From a Filorium export**, check the preview, and press **Import this file**. The files need to be on the site already — for example after moving your site. Files that aren’t there are skipped and counted. Nothing is overwritten, and importing the same backup twice only adds what is missing. Collections are not imported. ### Do I need Filorium Pro? No. The free plugin works on its own, and nothing in it is locked behind a license. ### Do Filorium and Filorium Pro need to be on the same version? No. You can update Filorium on its own. If an update ever needs a newer Pro, Pro pauses until you update it too. Your data stays safe and the free features keep working. ### What happens if I deactivate Filorium? Your folders and settings are kept, and the Media Library goes back to how WordPress normally looks. ### What happens if I delete Filorium? Your folders are kept, in case you install it again. To remove everything, turn on **Delete everything if the plugin is removed** under** Settings Data** before deleting the plugin. You may want to download a copy under** Settings Export** first. ### Is Filorium translation-ready? Yes. Translations arrive automatically through translate.wordpress.org. ### Can I use Filorium with a keyboard? Yes. The folder tree and all three views work with the keyboard, common actions have shortcuts, and panels can be resized from the keyboard too. ### Who made the icons? Qevix Labs.
