You can install Policy Genius via the plugin directory, or by uploading the files manually to your server.
- Upload the plugin folder to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory or install via the Add New Plugin menu
- Activate the plugin through the Plugins menu in WordPress
- In the Settings section, open Policy Guru.
- Fill in all data for cookie notification and save changes.
- Fill in all data for the privacy policy and save changes.
- Create a “New Post” or “New Page” through your WordPress Dashboard
- Enter the shortcode in the visual or text editor, exactly as written below:
[privacy_policy] - Privately publish the post or page. This can be done through selecting the “Private” option under “Visibility”
- The following page is your custom Privacy Policy. You may copy the text and post it as your website’s Privacy Policy.

Is this Privacy Policy a legal document?
No. This is a free policy template that takes into account the data protection requirements and best practices, as well as providing notification to users regarding a websites’ personal information handling practices, created by privacy experts. However, the policy is not a legal document – please consult a lawyer if necessary. -

A Privacy Policy (or “Privacy Statement” or “Privacy Notice”) notifies users of an organization’s personal information handling practices. Why do I need a Privacy Policy?
Depending on your location, having a Privacy Policy may be a legal requirement of your jurisdiction’s privacy law. Furthermore, having a Privacy Policy is just best practice for transparency and openness. It is informational for site visitors, and also holds organizations accountable to protect data. -
Where should I post my Privacy Policy?
It is recommended that site visitors be able to find your organization’s Privacy Policy through a link on the website home page. This is often found at the bottom of the front page. -
