Download the plugin from wordpress.org
Upload it to your site (if you’ve installed it through WordPress Admin Dashboard skip this step)
Activate the plugin through “Plugins” menu in WordPress
Go To “Appearance” -> “Widgets” -> Add the new widget “Current Category Posts”
Save & Enjoy!

Not sure why wordpress, and some other widgets, don’t allow you to do this. It’s so simple. Thanks for this plugin. Very much appreciated and works perfectly!

Probado en Wordpress 5.2.1 funciona correctamente. Es muy simple de configurar y funcional. Es posible configurar el título, el número de entradas máximo que se quieren mostrar de la categoría y también el número máximo de caracteres para cada enlace. Fácil, sin más florituras innecesarias. Personalmente justo lo que andaba buscando. Gracias!!!
