Solid plugin prior to WordPress 5.5, but it has a conflict with the new WordPress Update. I'll change my review if and when it is updated for WordPress 5.5 Compatibility.
The other issue is that it must be counting bots because the visitor counts are extremely high. I'm using another plugin that seems to be providing accurate numbers. I mainly keep Live Visitor Counter active because the UI is pretty for viewers with a feature that shows "Live Visitors" that are currently live on the site.

Looks much more premium than other visitor plugins.
Happy you added the dark mode in the end. Visitor counter usually is in the footer and for some reason they are always dark.

Easily installable and does count something. Unfortunately, the strings in the widget cannot be translatable or customizable.
Loco Translate finds only four translatable strings including plugin's homepage "http://visitorplugin.com" and the name of the author "Adam Z", but strings like "Live visitors" or "Visitors today" are hard-coded, so it cannot be used on multi-language sites.
